Tummy Tuck

A tummy tuck, medically known as abdominoplasty, is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the abdomen by removing excess skin and fat and tightening the underlying muscles. The procedure begins with the patient being placed under general anesthesia to ensure a pain-free and comfortable experience. The surgeon makes a horizontal incision just above the pubic area, extending from one hip to the other, and may make an additional incision around the navel if necessary. Through these incisions, the surgeon carefully separates the skin from the abdominal wall and repairs weakened or separated abdominal muscles by suturing them together to create a firmer abdominal profile.

Once the muscles are tightened, the surgeon removes any excess skin and fat, ensuring the remaining skin is smooth and taut. If a new navel position is required, the surgeon creates a new opening and repositions the belly button. The incisions are then closed with sutures, skin adhesives, or clips, and the treated area is bandaged. A drain may be temporarily placed under the skin to remove excess fluids. Post-operative care involves monitoring the patient during recovery, providing instructions on wound care, activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments to ensure proper healing and to evaluate the surgical outcome.
