Leg Laser Hair Removal
Description
Leg laser hair removal is a semi-permanent method of hair reduction that uses concentrated laser light to damage the hair follicles, slowing and eventually stopping the growth of hair. The procedure begins with the client lying down on a treatment table, with the area to be treated cleaned and prepped. The laser technician will then adjust the laser settings based on the client's hair color, thickness, and treatment area. Once everything is set, the technician will start directing laser lights into the hair follicles using a handheld device. The hair follicles absorb the light which generates heat and damages the follicles, thereby minimizing hair growth. A typical leg laser hair removal procedure may take around 30 minutes to an hour per session and would typically require several sessions to achieve desired results. During the leg laser hair removal process, both the technician and the client must wear protective eyewear to protect the eyes from the laser light. The laser pulse might cause slight discomfort, usually likened to the snap of a rubber band against the skin. A cooling mechanism or gel is often employed to help alleviate this. Once the procedure is complete, aloe vera or another type of cooling lotion might be applied to soothe the skin. Post-treatment, clients are advised to avoid sun exposure and tanning beds, as the treated skin is sensitive to light. Any potential side effects such as redness, swelling, or irritation typically subside within a few hours to a few days. The hair will start to fall out gradually over the course of the following month.
