Knee Liposuction

Knee liposuction, also known as knee contouring or knee lipo, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at removing excess fat deposits around the knees to create a more defined and proportionate leg appearance. The procedure typically begins with the administration of local anesthesia or, in some cases, general anesthesia, depending on the patient’s preference and the surgeon’s recommendation. Once the anesthesia has taken effect, small incisions are made in inconspicuous areas around the knee to minimize visible scarring. A tumescent fluid, which is a mixture of saline, local anesthetic, and epinephrine, is then injected into the targeted area to reduce bleeding and make the fat easier to remove.

After the tumescent solution has taken effect, the surgeon uses a thin, hollow tube called a cannula, which is inserted through the incisions to break up and suction out the excess fat deposits. The surgeon meticulously maneuvers the cannula to sculpt the knee area, ensuring a smooth and balanced contour. Throughout the procedure, the surgeon uses both visual and tactile feedback to achieve the desired shape. Once the fat removal is complete, the incisions are closed with sutures or surgical tape, and the treated area is bandaged to minimize swelling and support the healing process. Post-operative care includes wearing a compression garment to aid in reducing swelling and supporting the new contours, along with following specific instructions regarding activity levels and maintaining personal hygiene to ensure a smooth recovery.
