Calf Liposuction

Calf liposuction is a surgical procedure aimed at removing excess fat deposits from the calf area to achieve a more contoured and defined lower leg. The procedure begins with a thorough consultation where the surgeon evaluates the patient's medical history, discusses goals, and performs a physical examination to determine candidacy for the operation. On the day of the surgery, the patient is administered either local anesthesia with sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the extent of the surgery and patient preference. The surgeon makes small, strategic incisions around the calf, typically in less conspicuous areas to minimize visible scarring. A tumescent fluid, which contains a local anesthetic and epinephrine, is injected into the target areas to numb the tissue, minimize bleeding, and facilitate fat removal.

Once the tumescent solution has taken effect, the surgeon inserts a thin, hollow tube called a cannula through the incisions. The cannula is moved back and forth to break up the fat cells, which are then suctioned out using a vacuum device. The surgeon carefully sculpts the area, ensuring a smooth and natural contour. After the desired amount of fat has been removed, the incisions are closed with sutures. A compression garment is typically applied to help reduce swelling and support the healing tissues. The patient is monitored in a recovery area until they are ready to go home, usually on the same day. Post-operative care includes instructions for managing discomfort, guidelines for activity restrictions, and follow-up appointments to monitor healing progress. Full results may be observed several months after the procedure as swelling subsides and the tissues fully heal.
