Underarm Laser Hair Removal
Description
Underarm laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure that employs laser technology to remove unwanted hairs from the underarm or axillary area. The process works by concentrating a beam of light at a specific wavelength onto the skin, targeting the dark pigment or melanin in the hair. As the light is absorbed by the hair, it transforms into heat energy which damages the hair follicle, thereby inhibiting or delaying future hair growth. Before the procedure, the individual should shave the treatment area to enable the laser to effectively reach and target the hair follicles. The technician will then adjust the laser machine according to the individual's skin color, hair color, and hair thickness. During the session, a handheld laser device is used to emit light pulses onto the skin. This may cause a feeling of mild discomfort, often described as a rubber band snapping against the skin, but a cooling device or gel is typically used to minimize any discomfort. Typically, a patient may require several sessions spread over several weeks to achieve the desired results due to the nature of hair growth cycles. The number of required sessions can vary for each individual, depending on the density and color of the hair.
