Neck Lift

A neck lift, also known as a lower rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure aimed at improving visible signs of aging in the jawline and neck. The process typically begins with the administration of anesthesia, either through intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the patient's needs and the surgeon's recommendation. Once anesthesia takes effect, the surgeon makes strategically placed incisions. A traditional neck lift incision typically starts in the hairline at the level of the sideburn, continues down and around the ear, and ends in the posterior hairline. Through these incisions, the surgeon tightens the platysma muscle and removes excess skin to create a smoother, firmer neck appearance. In some cases, liposuction may be used to remove localized fat deposits.

Following the excision of excess skin and tissue tightening, the surgeon carefully closes the incisions with sutures or skin adhesives. To minimize swelling and bruising, the surgeon may place a small, thin drainage tube under the skin, which is usually removed a day or two later. Post-operative care instructions are provided to the patient, emphasizing the importance of keeping the head elevated, avoiding strenuous activities, and attending follow-up appointments to monitor healing progress. The final results of a neck lift can typically be seen after several weeks to months, once the swelling and bruising have subsided. The outcome aims to provide a more youthful and natural contour of the neck and jawline, enhancing overall facial aesthetics.
