Korean Medicine

Korean Medicine (KM), also known as traditional Korean medicine (TKM), is a holistic medical system that encompasses various practices, including herbal medicine, acupuncture, moxibustion, and cupping therapy. The procedure typically begins with a thorough diagnosis that integrates both traditional diagnostic techniques and modern methods. Practitioners conduct an in-depth inquiry into the patient's medical history, lifestyle, emotional state, and specific symptoms. This is often followed by observation techniques such as examining the tongue and palpating the pulse to assess the body's energy flow and organ function. Diagnosis in KM is aimed at identifying the root cause of imbalance in the body rather than merely addressing superficial symptoms.

Once the diagnosis is established, a tailored treatment plan is developed. Herbal medicine is a cornerstone of Korean Medicine, involving the use of various plant, mineral, and animal components tailored to the individual's specific condition. Acupuncture, another key modality, involves inserting fine needles into specific acupoints along the body's meridians to restore energy flow (Qi) and promote healing. Moxibustion, which involves burning herbal substances close to or on the skin, is used to stimulate circulation and alleviate ailments. Cupping therapy employs suction to draw out toxins and improve blood flow. Throughout the treatment process, practitioners may offer dietary and lifestyle advice to support the patient's holistic well-being. Regular follow-ups are conducted to monitor progress and adjust treatments as necessary, ensuring a comprehensive and personalized approach to health.
