Face Lift

A facelift, also known as rhytidectomy, is a surgical procedure intended to reduce the visible signs of aging on the face and neck, thereby restoring a more youthful appearance. The procedure typically begins with the administration of anesthesia, either through intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, to ensure patient comfort throughout the surgery. The surgeon then makes incisions in strategic locations, often along the hairline at the temples, continuing around the ear, and ending in the lower scalp. In some cases, an incision may also be made under the chin to address aging in the neck area as well. The skin is then gently lifted from the underlying tissue, allowing the surgeon to tighten and reposition the muscles and tissues beneath the skin. Excess fat may be removed or redistributed to improve facial contours.

Once the underlying structures have been adjusted to achieve the desired results, the skin is redraped over the newly contoured face and any excess skin is trimmed away. The incisions are carefully closed with sutures or skin adhesives, minimizing visible scarring. In some instances, small drainage tubes may be placed under the skin to prevent fluid buildup. After the surgery, the patient is taken to a recovery area where they are closely monitored as the anesthesia wears off. Post-operative care instructions are provided, which may include guidelines on medication, wound care, and activity restrictions to ensure optimal healing and results. The recovery period varies, but most patients can resume normal activities within a few weeks, gradually revealing a rejuvenated and more youthful facial appearance.
