Dental Bridge

A dental bridge is a common procedure aimed at replacing one or more missing teeth. The process typically begins with a thorough examination and assessment by a dentist or dental specialist. During this initial stage, dental impressions, X-rays, and molds may be taken to accurately determine the condition of the patient’s teeth and jaw structure. Once the assessment is complete, the teeth adjacent to the gap, known as abutment teeth, are prepared. This involves reshaping these teeth by removing a portion of enamel to ensure that the crowns that will support the bridge fit properly. Local anesthesia is used during this procedure to minimize discomfort. After the teeth are prepared, another impression is taken, which will serve as a model for the dental laboratory to create the custom bridge, false teeth (pontics), and crowns.

On the subsequent visit, the custom dental bridge is tested and adjusted to ensure a proper fit and bite alignment. The dentist checks the bridge for comfort, fit, and correct occlusion, making necessary adjustments. Once satisfied, the dental bridge is permanently cemented into place using dental adhesive. The final step involves polishing and finishing touches to ensure the bridge blends seamlessly with the natural teeth. Post-procedure care instructions are provided to the patient, emphasizing good oral hygiene practices to maintain the longevity of the bridge and the health of the surrounding teeth and gums. Follow-up visits may be scheduled to monitor the bridge's condition and the patient's oral health.
