CO2 Laser

A CO2 laser skin resurfacing procedure begins with a thorough consultation where a dermatologist or licensed professional evaluates the patient's skin type, medical history, and aesthetic goals. On the day of the procedure, the treatment area is cleansed thoroughly to remove any makeup, oils, and impurities. A topical anesthetic or local anesthesia is then applied to the skin to minimize discomfort during the procedure. Protective eyewear is provided to shield both the patient’s and the practitioner’s eyes from the laser light. The CO2 laser device is then calibrated according to the specific needs of the procedure and the patient's skin type.

During the procedure, the practitioner guides the laser over the designated skin areas. The CO2 laser emits light at a specific wavelength that is absorbed by water in the skin cells, causing controlled vaporization of the outer layers of the epidermis. This process stimulates the underlying tissues and promotes collagen production, leading to improved skin texture and reduced signs of aging. The treatment typically involves a systematic movement over each treatment zone to ensure even coverage. After the procedure, the treated skin is soothed with a cooling gel or ointment to alleviate any immediate post-treatment discomfort. Recovery instructions are provided, often including recommendations for gentle skin care, sun protection, and possibly antibiotics or antiviral medications to prevent complications as the skin heals and renews over the following weeks.
