Clear Aligners

Clear aligners are a type of orthodontic treatment designed to straighten teeth and correct misalignments without the need for traditional metal braces. The procedure begins with a consultation with an orthodontist or dental professional who assesses the patient's teeth and bite. During this initial visit, digital scans, photographs, and X-rays of the patient's mouth are taken to create a precise 3D model of the teeth. Using this model, the orthodontist develops a customized treatment plan outlining the movement of the teeth over time. This plan is then sent to a lab where a series of custom aligners are fabricated. These aligners are made of a smooth, BPA-free plastic that is virtually invisible when worn, offering a discreet alternative to braces.

The patient receives the first set of aligners, which should be worn for 20-22 hours per day, only being removed for eating, drinking (anything other than water), brushing, and flossing. Each set of aligners is typically worn for one to two weeks as prescribed by the orthodontist before progressing to the next set in the series. The patient will have periodic check-ups, usually every six to eight weeks, to monitor progress and receive the next sets of aligners. Throughout the treatment, the aligners gradually shift the teeth into their desired positions. The total duration of the treatment varies, but it generally ranges from several months to a few years, depending on the complexity of the case. Once the treatment is complete, the patient may be required to wear retainers to maintain the new alignment and prevent the teeth from moving back to their original positions.
