Breast Lift

A breast lift, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure designed to raise and reshape sagging breasts. This operation primarily involves the removal of excess skin and the tightening of the surrounding tissue to support and reposition the new breast contour. Typically performed under general anesthesia, the surgeon begins by making incisions on the breasts, which can vary in pattern depending on the technique used and the amount of lift required. Common incision patterns include a circular pattern around the areola, a keyhole pattern with an incision around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease, or an anchor pattern, which includes additional horizontal incisions along the breast crease. Once the incisions are made, the underlying breast tissue is lifted and reshaped to improve breast firmness and contour.

The next steps involve repositioning the nipple and areola to a higher, more youthful location. If necessary, the size of the areola can be reduced to make it proportionate to the newly shaped breast. After these adjustments, the skin is tightened and the incisions are closed with sutures, skin adhesives, or surgical tape. In some cases, temporary drainage tubes may be placed under the skin to remove excess fluids. Post-surgery, patients are usually advised to wear a special support bra to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal. Recovery times can vary, but most patients can return to normal activities within a few weeks, with complete healing and final results typically visible within a few months. The goal of a breast lift is to achieve a natural and aesthetically pleasing breast shape that meets the patient's expectations and enhances their self-confidence.
