Breast Fat Grafting

Breast fat grafting, also known as autologous fat transfer, is a cosmetic procedure aimed at enhancing breast volume using the patient's own fat. The process typically begins with a consultation where the surgeon assesses the patient's goals, overall health, and the suitability of fat donor sites - commonly the abdomen, thighs, or flanks. On the day of the procedure, the patient is usually under local anesthesia with sedation or, in some cases, general anesthesia. Fat is harvested through liposuction, where small incisions are made in the donor areas, and a cannula is inserted to suction out the required fat. This harvested fat undergoes a purification process to remove impurities, blood, and oils to ensure viability when transferred.

Once purified, the fat is carefully injected into the breasts in small, precise increments using a series of tiny injections. This meticulous process is crucial to ensure the even distribution of fat and to maximize the survival rate of the injected fat cells. The surgeon continuously molds and shapes the breasts to achieve the desired contour and symmetry. Post-procedure, patients typically experience swelling, bruising, and mild discomfort both in the donor and the recipient areas, which subside over a few weeks. Recovery instructions often include wearing compression garments, avoiding strenuous activities, and adhering to follow-up appointments to monitor healing and the final results. Breast fat grafting offers a more natural alternative to implants, with the dual benefit of liposuction sculpting for the donor site.
