Axillary Liposuction

Axillary liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure designed to remove excess fat deposits from the underarm (axillary) area, improving contour and reducing bulkiness. The process begins with a thorough consultation where the surgeon evaluates the patient's medical history, body condition, and aesthetic goals. Once the patient is deemed suitable for the procedure, local anesthesia or sedation is administered to ensure comfort. Small incisions, usually less than a centimeter in size, are made in inconspicuous areas of the underarm. A tumescent solution, which contains a mix of saline, lidocaine, and epinephrine, is then injected to numb the area, minimize bleeding, and facilitate fat removal. Using a thin, hollow tube called a cannula, the surgeon gently suctions out the fat cells, sculpting the area for a smoother and more defined appearance.

Throughout the procedure, the surgeon meticulously monitors the amount of fat being removed to maintain symmetry and avoid over-removal, which could lead to irregularities or indentations. Post-surgery, the small incisions are closed with sutures or left to heal naturally if very small. The patient is typically provided with a compression garment to reduce swelling and support the new contour during the healing process. Recovery time varies, but most patients can expect to return to normal activities within a week and strenuous activities after a few weeks, following the surgeon’s specific guidelines. Regular follow-ups are scheduled to monitor healing and ensure optimal results, with the final contour becoming more apparent as swelling subsides over the course of a few months.
