AirSculpt
AirSculpt
AirSculpt is a minimally invasive fat removal and body sculpting procedure. It is performed using a biopsy punch tool which is a less invasive method that allows plastic surgeons to remove unwanted fat from the body without the use of general anesthesia or IV sedatives. It is an upgrade on traditional liposuction as it not only removes the fat but also tightens the skin for a more enhanced, smoother appearance. Unlike liposuction, AirSculpt preserves surrounding nerves and collagen and only numbs the area being treated, making it safer and more comfortable for the patient.
The AirSculpt procedure begins by creating a two-millimeter-wide entry point using a biopsy punch. The area which needs to be treated is then numbed with lidocaine, reducing discomfort during surgery. A proprietary AirSculpt cannula is then inserted into the skin to pluck fat cells one by one, while at the same time releasing pressurized air which boosts skin tightening. After the fat cells are removed, they are collected in a canister so as to be visible for the patient to see. By leaving absolutely no stitches, the procedure maintains its minimal invasiveness factor. Because of the absence of general anesthesia, patients are awake during the procedure and can return home immediately afterwards.
