Abdominal Laser Hair Removal
Description
Abdominal laser hair removal is a cosmetic procedure used to permanently remove or reduce the amount of hair growth in the abdominal area. In the first step of the procedure, a trained technician or a dermatologist will use a handheld device that emits laser light. This light is absorbed by the pigment in the hair follicles, which in turn generates heat and destroys the follicle's capability to grow new hair. Prior to the procedure, the area that is to be treated is shaved clean, ensuring that the laser light interacts directly with the hair follicles. During the procedure, a cooling device or a cooling gel is usually applied to minimize any discomfort caused by the heat produced by the laser light. The procedure usually takes less than an hour but it can differ based on the extent of the area to be treated. Mild discomfort or a slight stinging sensation is usually experienced during the session. To get effective results, multiple sessions may be necessary as hair growth occurs in cycles, and the laser is only effective on hair in its active growth phase. After the session, it is common to have minor redness, but this will quickly subside. The individual is advised to avoid exposure to the sun, as the skin will be sensitive post-treatment. It is important to note that this procedure works best on dark hairs and its effectiveness can depend on the skin type and color.
